  • To determine efficiencies of Orifice and Venturi meter
  • To study performance characteristics of hydraulic turbines and pumps.
  • To evaluate losses in different types of pipes

Course Outcomes

  • Student will be able to apply efficiency formula for orifice meter and venturi meter
  • Students will be able to calculate efficiency and plot performance characteristic curves for hydraulic turbines and pumps
  • Students will be able to determine losses in the pipes due bends, contractions and expansions

Course Objectives

  • To determine the rate of Heat Transfer through Conduction, Convection, Radiation, Heat exchanger.
  • Understand the various forms of heat transfer and their applications in real life problems.
  • Analyze different methods to calculate the heat transfer coefficient in various heat transfer problems
  • Analyze the theoretical knowledge and apply it in conducting experiments in the forms of heat transfer.

Course Outcomes

  • Perform the step turning and taper turning on a circular rod.
  • Perform thread cutting and knurling on a circular C.S rod using the lathe machine.
  • Drill a hole and perform tapping on a given work piece.
  • Perform the slotting & planning operation on a given specimen
  • Produce smooth surface finish by performing the grinding operations
  • Produce the single point cutting tool by perform the grinding operation on tool and cutter grinding machine.

Course Objectives

  • To Study working system and important parts and functions of the Machines like Lathe, Drilling, Milling, shaping and Slotting Machine.
  • To Study material, geometry of tools used in metal cutting like single point, multi point cutting tools.
  • To practice machining operations like plain turning, step turning, taper turning and thread cutting on Lathe Machines.
  • Also practice on Machines to perform operations like drilling and tapping, grinding, planning. Learn working on Tool and cutter grinding machine and cylindrical grinding machine.

  • Understand the concept of PLC system and its ladder programming, and significance of PLC systems in industrial application.
  • To develop pneumatic and hydraulic circuits using Automation studio.
  • To simulate and analyze PID controllers for a physical system using MATLAB.

Course Outcomes

  • Ability to apply the principles of balancing of masses to various links, mechanisms and engines
  • Ability to apply the principles of gyroscopic effects and stabilization on various transport vehicles and applications of various governors .
  • Ability to determine the vibration parameters of different systems.

Course Objectives

  • To impart hands-on practical exposure on manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • To make the student to know design and manufacture of simple patterns, sand testing
  • To make the student to know Arc welding and resistance welding equipment for the fabrication of welded joints
  • To make the student to know injection molding equipment

About Lab

  • This laboratory is aimed at providing an introduction to the Know-how of common processes used in industries for manufacturing parts by removal of material in a controlled manner.
  • Auxiliary methods for machining to desired accuracy and quality will also be covered.
  •  The emphasis throughout the laboratory course will be on understanding the basic features of the processes rather than details of constructions of machine, or common practices in manufacturing or acquiring skill in the operation of machines.R

  • The student will be trained to implement similar features in preparation of jobs can be extended to implement in the preparation of complicated jobs

Course Objectives

  • This course is to teach the theory and tools of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) with an emphasis on the central role of the geometric model in their seamless integration.
  • It focuses on the integration of these tools and the automation of the product development cycle
  • It is to introduce geometric modeling techniques, data structure design and algorithms for solid modeling.
  • It also covers the machining theory, automated CNC machining, and process control.

  • 40 Nos Computers having Intel core2duo processor with Catia V5, ANSYS, MATLAB

Course Outcomes

After the completion of the course, students should be able to
  • Execute steps required for modeling 3D objects by using protrusion, cut, sweep, extrude commands
  • Convert 3D solid models into 2D drawing-different views, sections .
  • Use isometric views and dimensioning of part models
  • Use CAM software to generate NC code
